Area Tremont Churches Celebrate Holy Week

It is important to understand the real rich diversity in Tremont. This is exactly with Tremont West has left off the table.

This link is from the Plain Dealer Blog section.

http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/03/tremonts_good_friday_processio.html

If you happen to watch the video of the peole celebrating their faith. Please let the President of Tremont West Development Corp. know your thoughts.

So Mr. Catania, do we really look like a bunch of extremists to you?

Cleveland's Southside Historical Site

A while ago I asked if anyone had the link to a site about Tremont when it was known as the Southside. Well, the lady who runs it sent me an email today. It is a great resource on the history of the neighborhood. Make sure to visit Cleveland's Southside.

Tremont History Project Exhibit at TWDC

I stopped by the TWDC offices last night and looked at the Tremont History exhibit currently on display there. It's pretty informative and impressive. It should be open whenever TWDC offices are open, but the History Project folks will be on hand to answer questions on ArtWalk nights.

Old News

You can find all kinds of things when you're doing some simple Google searches. Like this December 29, 2005 Crain's Cleveland Business interview with Joe Cimperman:

Mr. Cimperman spoke with Crain’s Cleveland Business: On The Web about why he’s against recent proposals to reduce the size of City Council, why he favors the Tower City site for a convention center and what Frank Jackson can do to help spur economic development in the city.

and some Plain Press articles from as long ago as 1992. [I was eleven.]

Gospel Press

From Walter's Weblog:

At one time, the building was going to be the Tremont Cultural Center, a grand live/work project. A group of artists lived within the cold, dank walls of this mausoleum, working for free for Joe to try to salvage the decrepit yet beautiful building. Nothing much ever came from it except bitter feelings and dashed hopes.

Now someone with the capacity to take on a project of this scale has done so...

The new owners of Gospel Press are talking with the Cleveland Landmarks Commission today.
