Tremont has a new Crime and Safety website: Crime Watch Tremont.

...designed to provide anonymity and transparency to the reporting of criminal and suspicious activities as well as a tool for law enforcement and others to identify trends and gather information. It is our hope that this resource will be utilized in conjunction with the cameras being installed throughout Tremont to pin point activity that needs surveillance. This will reduce the possibility of any profiling or finger pointing, perceived or otherwise, which can divide a community.

Second District Safety Summit

The annual 2nd District Safety Summit is Thursday, October 18th 7-9pm at WSEM - 5209 Detroit Ave. Cleveland Police Representatives include 2nd District Cmdr. Sulzer, Lt. Bolan, Ofc. Stanczyk, Detectives from auto theft and sex crimes units, and CMHA Chief of Police Gonzalez will be in attendance.

I snapped this picture of Cleveland's Finest after they ran me [and everyone else] off the sidewalk at Lincoln Park yesterday around dinner time. It is good to see them patrolling the playground to make sure all the parents and their children aren't breaking into cars and homes.

APL Vandalism

The APL had a window broken by vandals earlier this week. The damage estimate is around $500. They do excellent work on a shoestring budget. If you'd like to help them out you can donate time walking the dogs or money here.

Plenty of interesting things have been posted in the forums this week. Here is a sampling:

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is pleased to announce the 2006 season of free, outdoor theatre.

This year we will again present two plays in rotating repertory. One is Shakespeare's classic tragedy KING LEAR (July 13-15). The other is a new play by a new, young playwright, Ryan JW Smith, and is entitled SWEET LOVE ADIEU (July 20-23).

On July 15-17 beginning at about 10:00 am each day, the Poor PeopleÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPRHRC) will be holding the National Truth Commission. It will be held in and around Lincoln Park in Cleveland.
