APL Vandalism

The APL had a window broken by vandals earlier this week. The damage estimate is around $500. They do excellent work on a shoestring budget. If you'd like to help them out you can donate time walking the dogs or money here.

It's a shame the APL had a window broken out, but the APL isn't poor. They recently received a bequest of several million dollars, which makes the APL the best-funded rescue operation in northeast Ohio, if not one of the best-funded in the country. Volunteerism is awesome, and the dogs and cats that are waiting for homes there can use all the human attention they can get, but my guess is the APL can afford to replace the window.

If you want to help out a shelter in need now that we're on the topic, check out The City of Clevleand Kennel on West 7th. The conditions are awful for the dogs but the staff is doing the best they can with the budget cuts. If anyone out there can foster a dog the City Kennel is the place to visit. Lots of dogs get put to sleep there if they can't find homes or get fostered or go to other shelters. Help The Friends of the Cleveland Kennels. There are 2 fundraisers coming up to support them this summer/fall. One is a Mutt-Wash at The Mutt Hutt on Sat. Sept. 9th and the other is a Mutt-Bowl on Sat. September 30th. For more information go to: http://www.TheMuttHutt.com/events.html or http://www.TheFriendsoftheClevelandKennel.com

Huh. I wonder what that line about "limited resources" in the article was all about then.
