Lakewood had a turnout of

Lakewood had a turnout of over two hundred residents (mostly seniors) and will likely save their circulator from being axed. Will Tremont and Brooklyn Centre being able to turnout a similar crowd? It's most unlikely, since the people who depend on the bus have kids and job commitments that will keep them from speaking out. This really depends on a showing from our council reps. Cimperman, Cummins, Santiago have to demonstrate in favor of the bus lines serving our neighborhoods. Thank you for posting this information. I plan on attending the Brooklyn meeting and writing to save the routes. If any one reading can email a letter, your time and effort are greatly appreciated:

Public Hearings

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has scheduled
five public hearings to discuss a proposed fuel surcharge and service
reductions.

The fuel surcharge would increase fares.

If those measures are approved by the Board of Trustees, they would take effect in October.

Because of greatly reduced state funding and rising fuel prices, RTA
projects a $20 million deficit in 2009, if no changes are made.

If you cannot attend a hearing, you can send comments by Aug. 18, 2008 to:
