Tremont Cinema

What do people think about the idea of turning the old bank building on Professor next to Professor Market into a small one screen cinema that would play older or independent films.

It could run A Christmas Story all Demember long.

THE HORROR THE HORROR

Doesn't this poor neighborhood suffer enough?  A month of that cinematic slop oozing out the doors of the old bank building?  Keith it would be more humane to simply walk up and down Professor shooting people in the eyes with a BB gun.

Stop the madness.  Smash the leg lamps.

It might be more appropriate

It might be more appropriate to offer folks a nice free round of Russian Roulette a la The Deerhunter after each showing of A Christmas Story, instead.

Sounds great Keith. What

Sounds great Keith.
What does the interior of that building look like anyhow? Could it support such a venue? That would be a prime location.
The building next to the bath house condos used to be a theater up until the 30's.. was either called the Jennings Theatre or the Pelton Theatre, one of the two.

In tough economic times like

In tough economic times like these, the first thing people usually cut back on is entertainment. I think its a nice idea. And definately something my friends and I would be interested in going to. (other then A Christmas Story. lol)

What can people do to get involved and help this come together?

i know disgustingly little

i know disgustingly little about these logistics----what is involved? Who owns it? how much is rent? what funding is available? would we have to pay for the right for each film? how much is equipment?

That bank is one of my favorite buildings in the neighborhood! I'd love to get involved in this.

When was the last time it was occupied?
