Please be advised that on 02-27-08 I had the renewal sticker and county sticker stolen from my license plate. I noticed footprints in the snow but thought nothing of it until I came home later and was removing groceries from my trunk of my car and noticed the stickers were removed.

I thought someone just wanted to get me stopped by the police. But I called Bob Shores, the safety coordinator at OCNW. He informed me that their has been a rash of this activity in several areas of Ohio City. So be warned they may be starting to hit Tremont. Bob stated he has seen several police reports to relating to this fact.

I was advised by the BMV to make a police report. Thieves are putting these on other plates, so protect yourself by reporting the sticker stolen. I went to the Second district and they filed a Theft report.

I also read in the West Side Sun News Second District police blotter that at west 18th and Denison it reported another sticker theft. Per this blotter story the  crime is a Felony. I need to get this confirmed.

So I recommend everyone check to make sure their stickers are still on their plates. Bob Shores and the BMV staff are also stating they are also taking tin snips and cutting them off plates also per reports.

I also recommend you purchase a hardened plastic enclosure to deter the thieves from removing your stickers it is worth the investment.
