Recycling in the neighborhood?

Can folks tell me where I can drop off items for recycling in the area? Hours of availability would be helpful too. Also, do they take tires?
Thanks!

Hi Dan, Check out our

Hi Dan,

Check out our neighbor Jeff Schuler's Cleveland Recycling Map. There are two dumpsters behind Pilgrim Church on Starkweather for regular recyclables, and also a couple south of Metro on Scranton.

For tires, check out the Cuyahoga Solid Waste District site. There is a tire roundup all next week, I believe.

The West Side Market lot

The West Side Market lot also has several dumpsters. Pilgrim's are sometimes too full.

Thanks for the pointers--and

Why does the city of Cleveland have to sue GEM to do anything? They are operating without a permit, they have violated the Clean Air act for years. In the article, it says if they plan to take some action, the fines may be reduced.?? What a bunch of bullshit!

Enough of pussyfooting around. The city has every right to take control of the property. Bar the doors shut and close them down. I'm sick of how people like this just operate in Cleveland with impunity. They just come here and cause havoc and they continue to do business while nobody does anything about it. The EPA and the city should shut them down immediately. Do you know how toxic toluene is?

I don't really understand

I don't really understand why they don't have recycling trucks that come around and pick up recycling. I would bet that 7 or 8 out of 10 households, instead of like 3 out of 10, would recycle everything if it was more convienent for them. I'm not complaining because I'm starting to recycle everything I can, but I can tell you that it was a lot easier when I lived in Minneapolis and they just had a truck just like garbage trucks and everyone seperated it and put it into their little bins that were given to them. EVERYONE recycled because there was no excuse not too.

Cleveland makes everything so freaking difficult.

Leslee, the City of

Leslee, the City of Cleveland has a pilot program going to do just that. A few streets on the south end of Tremont (including mine) are participating in it.
