Fundraiser for Our Families
The residents of Holmden Buhrer Rowley and Mentor Castle Clark Block Clubs (along W. 14th Street south of the 490 bridge) need Tremont's help.
Last week, a home on W.12th Street was set on fire in the middle of the night, while the family was sleeping in the home. The family could easily have been killed, but fortunately escaped with their lives. This is the second arson fire within a month on W.12th - earlier another family's garage was burnt. Both families who were the target of the arson were African-American. Earlier this summer racist graffiti appeared in the neighborhood.
We are planning several responses to these incidents, but the first must be to help the two families' whose lives have been affected by these arsons. One family lost everything.
On August 11, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 pm, there will be a fundraiser for the families at the Clark Bar, 1201 Clark Avenue to benefit the families. Tickets are $5.00, which includes a hotdog and hamburger cookout. There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the event. The funds raised at this event will be matched by Councilperson Joe Cimperman.
Come and support these families and show them that Tremont does care. For more information on contributions to the families, contact Michelle Davis at Tretmont West at 216-575-0920.
