How the Consignment works... Buying or Selling
We've been getting a lot of response to the consignment clothing as well as inquiries about how it works, so here is an overview:
Sellers:
:: Eight pieces may be presented at a time (per day)
:: Styles must be no older than two years
:: Styles must be designer or major labels - No Old Navy, Fashion Bug, Kohl's house brand, etc.)
:: Items in very good or new condition (no stains, damage, wear, etc.)
:: To promote as new/never worn - original tags must be on item
:: Items must be CLEAN, PRESSED, and ON HANGERS
:: Sale cycle runs 10 weeks. Pricing starts at 1/3 of retail.
:: An appointment is required to drop off and go through items with us and agree on the correct pricing. You are permitted to drop off, however, in doing so, you must also agree to the pricing we research or the comparable pricing we apply.
:: A 50% discount is automatically applied at eight (8) weeks to unsold items.
:: Payout is at end of the 10 week sales cycle with a 50% commission.
:: Unsold items are either returned to seller or donated at seller's request to any of a selection of partnering non-profits. Donation receipt will be provided at time of pickup.
:: We call or send out a notice regarding the end of the sales cycle, but buyer agrees they are ultimately responsible for closing out their sales.
We have a Consignment Terms & Conditions sheet you will receive at the time of drop off.
Note: While we do sell items such as undergarments and
lingerie - these are new garments from wholesalers or retailer closeouts. We DO NOT ACCEPT underwear, socks, hosiery, lingerie, etc. on consignment - even if tags are still attached - no exceptions, please.
Buyers:
:: Pricing starts at 1/3 off retail prices (compare up to 1/2 off retail prices at discounts stores such as TJ Maxx, Marhsalls, etc.)
:: Items new to the sales floor sport a special tag highlighting the size and personality of the item.
:: At eight (8) weeks, if an items remains unsold, the special tag is removed and the price tag is red lined, indicating an additional 50% off the item's starting consignment price.

Why don't you spend money on your own website? You use this site to promote endlessly, yet I don't see an ad with your business logo on the front page. If I want a third grade explanation on how to consign, I will stop in.

Hi Sue. Any business in the neighborhood is allowed to post events, sales and other information pertaining to their business here, just as any resident is allowed to post information relating to neighborhood events. I don't think Des overuses her privilege here, I think other folks [businesses and residents] don't use it enough.

Thanks Adam.
Sue to address your comments:
1. I will have a website in due time. Baby steps as we grow...
2. I have signed up with Adam to not only put an Ad on the front page, but to create it, too. Adam committed to do it when he has time. He's been busy and this site is all donated time. It'll get done when he can... no rush... everything in due time.
3. While you may have expert understanding of consignment, many do not. I encounter people all the time who've never even heard of the concept. One of those who did not understand wandered in on Sunday out of curiosity. After experiencing the concept asked me to post the info because she thought it was a good idea.
4. As always with the way the forums are set up - if a title is not appealing to you - you have the option to simply skip over it and ignore it.
Adam, If anyone can
Adam,
If anyone can "advertise" on this site, I wonder why none of the information that I've sent you (about the last art walks) has been posted. Eye Candy gallery has live music during art walks during the warmer months (either inside or outside) and we always feature new artwork and add artists.
June music will b e 2MuchFun, and featured artists will be Gunter Schwegler (silk painting, and his fantastic lamps) and Bette Drake- a graduate of CIA and her serving pieces -clay.
There seem to be double standards . . . this has been going on since we opened in the neighborhood 5 years ago (anniversary will be June 21)
Warmest regards . . .

Hi Rita,
Des posts things on her own, and you're welcome to do so as well. If you need help using the posting application, I'll be happy to teach you. I've been posting less ever since I opened posting privileges to anyone who registers an account. I've been devoting my time on this site to stemming the tide of spam comments and accounts, and working on the code to improve the site for users. The site is still available for free marketing, you just have to do the work yourself most of the time.
