i highly recommend grumpy's, fair prices, late hours & friendly staff. i wrote a summary of my couple visits their during the first week of reopening, thats here.

we need to patronize fine eataries like grumpy's.

You must have got lucky!

You must have got lucky! After much anticipation we went to Grumpy's this week for breakfast. i couldn't have been more disappointed. Neither of our eggs were prepared properly, overcooked all the way. the toast was cut so thin and overcooked that it was more like a crostini. The hashbrows tasted like they just came out of a pot of boiling water, mushy and soggy. Even the coffe was weak!
After years of loving Grumpy's and all that it stands for I am sorry to say I probably won't go back.

i stand by my assessment.

i stand by my assessment. home-fries were not soggy, i don't eat eggs but heard noone complain.

just had lunch and it was pretty darn good. i had the lunch nachos ( with texas caviar) and my companion had the club sandwich. nothing but good things to say about the whole experience.

I was there on Sunday. I found the food to be quite good and the potatoes done just right. It took a very long time for the food to come out though which spoiled some of the experience.

I'll try Grumpy's again when they've worked out the kinks. We tried the "late night" menu and our pancakes were rubbery, potatoes were undercooked and not-so-cajun as advertised and the portion of potatoes was extrememly small for the price. Our syrup was taken from the table before we were finished. The omlette had congiled cheese on it (expected it inside the omlette) and the veggies were extremely large cuts that we needed to cut down to eat. Our coffee was not refilled for 15 minutes nor was our table approached to ask how the food was. The service could have been better and realizing this was their first weekend open for late-night I'll try them again later and hope for the best.

Other than that the ambiance is great, the colors and dining room look beautiful. I think once the scaffolding is down and the place has been up and operating things will work out.

I met Eileen Sotak from the Tremont History Project there this morning for breakfast. I had the chorizo burrito and it was good.
