Reception & Benefit for the Friends of Project: LEARN

Project: LEARN is Greater Cleveland's premier adult literacy center.
Founded in 1974, Project: LEARN has acquired a national reputation for
its leadership in advancing literacy. Project: LEARN's mission is
"Literacy for Every Adult." Its purpose is to teach basic skills to
adults so that they may reach their own particular learning goals. We
believe that reading is freedom, meaning that when students acquire
basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills they can solve
the problems of daily living, take full advantage of citizenship and

Free Night of Theatre at the Liminis for Tremont Residents

FREE NEIGHBORHOOD NIGHTS AT THE THEATRE continue throughout June for Thursday night performances of IN THE GARDEN at the Liminis theater, 2438 Scranton Rd. (between Starkweather and Kennilworth).  Thanks to a grant from the Cleveland Foundation's Neighborhood Connections Program, free nights for Tremonters are June 5, 12, 19 and 26.

ElectroNoize Playshop w/ bbob drake

Every Saturday in June, bbob drake will be leading his "ElectroNoize
Playshop" here at Visible Voice Books. The workshops will be free, but
bbob requests that interested parties pre-register with him. (Call the
store at 216.961.0084 for information on how to do that.) There will be
"parts kits" available for sale, and bbob will have a blog set up to
distribute weekly materials. (Link to follow, once we have it.) bbob

Summer of Resistance Film Series: "Meeting Resistance"

This July, the Northeastern Ohio Antiwar Coalition (NOAC) will sponsor a series of films that document war resistance from a variety of perspectives.

The
films, which are free and open to the public, will be shown each Monday
at 7:30 PM at Visible Voice Books. Doors at the bookstore will open at
6:30 PM, and moviegoers are encouraged to come early to browse the
shop’s wide selection of books.

Taste of Tremont & Roosevelt Post 58

Roosevelt Post 58, of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. USA at 2442 Professor Av. Tremont will be not only part of this years Taste Tremont but will have the doors open to the public for the first time since 1945 which was it's founding by American Veterans of Polish Decent returning home from WWII.
