Opening: Friday Aug. 24 - 6pm During his downtime on early worldwide tours with DEVO, Mark Mothersbaugh began illustrating on postcards to send to his friends and family, which he still creates, and has been creating every day for over 30 years. It's an obsessive habit/hobby which still yields anywhere from one to a couple dozen new postcard-sized images per day. The cards were originally created as his personal diaries, and were never intended for public viewing. That all changed when Mark decided to share his postcard works in his critically acclaimed solo shows during the 1980's & 1990's. Since then, he launched his worldwide Homefront Invasion! tour in '03, and the Visual Art of Mark Mothersbaugh tour starting in '05. | ||

As a part of Tremont Unite, a response to the senseless crimes of arson and bigotry that were committed against our neighbors on West 12th Street, Thursday, August 30 is a Night to Unite. 7:00 pm- Prompt step off from the corner of West 11th and Starkweather for a walk in unity to West 12th and Mentor 7:15 pm- Community peace vigil at West 12th and Mentor 7:30 pm-8:15 pm- Refreshments and socializing 8:15- Dedication of peace You can walk or meet at the site. Feel free to bring a sign or object that symbolizes peace, unity and/or tolerance. | ||

This event benefits Project Noah, which you can read about at www.projectnoahsavethepets.org. Event will take place at Gateway Animal Clinic, 1502 Abbey Avenue. Cost is $20 if postmarked by September 15th, $25 on the day of the race/dog walk. Includes really cool long sleeved T-shirt that is guaranteed with pre-registration. Prizes for 5K from Fat Cats, Lolita, Fahrenheit, Civilization, Great Lakes Brewing and more. You can either sign up to run, or if you'd rather walk your dog, sign up for that instead! | ||
