fuckup-friendly WFMU, something interesting is happening there. That
band is Roxy Pain, and they're at Pat's this Friday. It'll be their first show in Cleveland, despite that guitarist/mastermind Wolfy is in fact ex-Clevelander Jef Scharf. You may remember him as the illustrator from the late lamented U.S. Rocker magazine, or as the guitarist in the hapless long-ago Clerock band You Would If You Loved Me, or as Ron's old friend Jef. If you don't remember the guy, get your ass to Pat's so you can start formin' memories.

This new project is heaviersludgierthicker than these guys' previous work, a place they seemed bent on going all along. They kick the ass at it, so check 'em.

The exhibit will feature soot-covered rags collected from wiping down pollution at 76 homes in Tremont and Brooklyn Center along with environmental artwork and photographs from local artists Angela Oster and Lou Muenz. The residents of Holmden Buhrer Rowley and Mentor Castle Clark Block Clubs (along W. 14th Street south of the 490 bridge) need Tremont's help.

Last week, a home on W.12th Street was set on fire in the middle of the night, while the family was sleeping in the home. The family could easily have been killed, but fortunately escaped with their lives. This is the second arson fire within a month on W.12th - earlier another family's garage was burnt. Both families who were the target of the arson were African-American. Earlier this summer racist graffiti appeared in the neighborhood.
